Apple newton inside12/3/2023 ![]() It has no labels, however the AC, floppy drive, don't look to be, the CD drive (RARE 20 Speed CD Rom Drive) has a weird serial number so it might be as well. The label reads "DVT-WX72 Kanga"." It also has a label that it is not being for sale or trade by FCC rules, and looks to have had a property/asset label below the Apple logo, but it's been removed. Apple Macintosh PowerBook G3 "Kanga" prototype is a Design Verification Test (DVT) that has a number of notable differences compared to the production model. ![]() The remainder of the plastics is non-etched, which is typical of the way prototypes are assessed before going into mass production. Only the top case palm rests have the plastics etched. It comes with removable floppy drive module and with Hooper pre-production Li-Ion vattery. It is equipped with 200MHz IBM CPU, Samsung 12.1 SVGA LCD, 16MB of on-board RAM and 2GB hard drive. This is a Design Verification Test (DVT) stamped with 'Build #332', PB Development Team s/n: PB03232. Apple Macintosh PowerBook 3400 Hooper prototype was built in week 25 of 1996 as revealed by the bottom case that has s/n: CK6252PV8GK.It's missing the Apple logo on the outside of the case and in the lower left hand corner by the screen and the model information, normally on the lower left of the screen. The keyboard and trackball are white, also unlike the final version. Apple Macintosh PowerBook 140 or 170 prototype has plastic that is smooth and black, unlike the textured, gray production version. This product is not FCC approved, and should only be used for display purposes ONLY." The only label on it states: "CAUTION!!! Computer must NOT be connected to power source while display case is installed, since EMI emissions may occur. Not much is known about this Macintosh SE with clear display case. The painted foam item is 14 inches by 9 inches by 10 inches. Considering the screen orientation, this could have been a prototype for a model targeted toward the business world, rather than the artistic, publishing and educational markets that the Mac traditionally attracted. ![]() The model has the usual slot for a 3.5 inch floppy in the front, but has a vertically-oriented screen not used on any production models.
